Course Information and Aims

PC Counselling and Training Ltd Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling is Accredited by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and adheres to their Code of Ethical Practice as well as following the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018).

The course is designed to educate and prepare learners to work as ethical counselling practitioners through a variety of teaching methods and styles that are unique and different to training in an educational establishment, and is primarily a course to work in counselling with adults, although some child work is incorporated.

  • Understand all 3 main counselling approaches
  • Apply counselling theory to practice in a variety of ways
  • Recognise legal and ethical aspects of counselling
  • Develop counselling skills to be able to work in an Integrative way
  • Develop a deeper understanding of yourself
Achieving the Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling:

To achieve this qualification learners will study 8 counselling units which address counselling theories; counselling skills; personal and professional development; ethics, equal opportunities and the law; professional and supervised practice; common client issues and research. All units must be complete to achieve the full qualification and reach practitioner status.

How the course is delivered

The course will be delivered for 8 hours a day over 33 weeks per year for 2 years.

How the Course is assessed:

This course is more practice based than academic and is assessed via a range of written and recorded methods, presented as a portfolio of evidence at the end of 2 years.  
A minimum of 1 written assignment is required per unit with the addition of self and peer assessments, tutor assessments and visual recordings of skills practice work in the classroom environment, groups projects and learner presentations.

All work is Quality Reviewed at the end of each academic year to ensure work meets the requirements of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society's accreditation standards.

Students are not required to become members of NCPS but are encouraged to do this once they have enrolled with PC Counselling and Training Ltd at a reduced rate for students.

Progression

Once learners have completed all the work for all the units of the course and have accrued the required 100 supervised placement hours, the learner will then be a qualified practitioner and be able to work as a counsellor for themselves in private practice or for an organisation.

Progression is not a mandatory requirement at this time but learners could apply to do an Honours or Masters Degree with a local or national University.

Government funding is currently not available for this course. Learners are responsible for the payment of fees and the following options are available:

The full cost of the course is only £2,450 per year.

However, we do offer payment incentives and for more information please speak to a member of the team or see our pricing plan.

Learners must pay a non refundable deposit at the start of the course to secure their place, followed by 9 monthly interest free payments. Fees for the first year must be paid before progression onto year 2. Other payment options are available but must be agreed by the Director prior commencement of the course and will incur interest charges.
